“...an impressive depth of interpretation and heart.”
— Marcel Marceau
Compared to Chaplin's "Little Tramp", lauded by Marcel Marceau, Rick Wamer creates compelling physical story telling by what some have called "body theatre". International audiences have been enjoying Rick's versatile brand of comedic, lyric, and contagious blend of physicality, story, character, monologue, ensemble, multi-media, mask theater around the globe for over three decades. His recent projects of devised physical ensemble work, he calls Theatre of Metamorphosis, continues to give witness to evolution of his remarkable artistry.

The Theatre of Metamorphosis
Devised Physical Theatre
The heart of The Theatre of Metamporphosis is the embodied actor. Using the physical imagination of sensations and breath, the actor takes center stage in the creation and performance. Rhythmic sculpture, Poetic Embodied Metaphor. The actor is the art.
Grounded in Legacy
Through the use of his “BE” Score, The Theatre of Metamorphosis is the perfect form for the Anthropocene: Instead of focusing on specific character development, the actor uses a “Be Score” where they “be” the subject of the art being devised. Exploring universal empathic connection with any element of the human and/or more than human world. If Theatre is a place where we hold space for all of humanity, then through the use of the “Be Score”, The Theatre of Metamorphosis is a place where we hold space for all of creation.
Theatre for the Anthropocene
Wamer’s accumulated years of training, performance, embodied research in mime, acting, devising, story logic, and sensating through breath - inspired by Marcel Marceau, Red Skelton, Charlie Chaplin, and contemporaries Gregg Goldston and C. Nicholas Johnson, creates a theatre that is grounded in legacy inspiring a form of acting he calls, the physical imagination.
